Recipe: Pistachio Halva Coconut Fat Bombs (sugar-free)

I have always been obsessed with halva. "Halva (also halvahhalwa, and other spellings) are dense, sweet confections originating in the Middle East. It is also served in Central and South Asia, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Eastern Europe, Malta, North Africa, the Horn of Africa, and in the Jewish diaspora." (Wikipedia, Halva)

I love the taste and texture of the sesame paste. I've wanted to recreate it but without all the sugar or honey.

I'm going to be honest. This recipe doesn't have the amazing chewy, flaky, crumbly texture of halva. At all. But it does have the great sesame taste! I tried. They're pretty good. But I need to keep working on it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsweetened tahini

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil

  • 10 dates, pitted, chopped

  • 1/4 cup of pistachios, chopped

Mix dates, tahini, and coconut oil in a food processor until fully blended. Stir in pistachios. Pour into cupcake molds. Freeze for at least 30 minutes. They pop out easily when you put a knife at the edge.
